April 21, 2014 Refined in a Furnace Psalm 12:6
The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. NIV
“The words of the Lord” – those are the words that are brought to us in Scripture. They’re flawless, they’re without error. They are absolutely and totally reliable. Do you perhaps wonder how that could be since they were brought to us by human agents, by men who were often weak and fallible and made mistakes? How can it be that the message that comes to us through such men is absolutely infallible, authoritative? The psalmist uses a beautiful picture. He says it’s like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. You see, the silver is the message of God. The furnace of clay represents the human instrument, the human messenger. There’s a fire in that furnace which is the fire of the Holy Spirit, infinitely pure, infinitely purified, and, as the message comes through the fire, even though it’s in a furnace of clay, the fire purifies the message and makes it absolutely pure and absolutely reliable. That’s why you can put your faith without question in the absolute accuracy and authority of God’s Word, the Scripture. The words of the Lord are flawless. They’ve been purified seven times (that speaks of the Holy Spirit) in a furnace of clay, and they come forth as pure as refined silver.

Three Lives? Third Entry
This is the last of the "mini-series" which I wrote and posted on my previous blog concerning the breath of lives. Hopefully, it will lay a strong foundation for future blogs based on the same concepts laid out in these three entries.
Three Lives? Third Entry
I’ve been writing
for a while concerning the segregation of mans’ spirit, soul and body, how
it occurred and why. To recap, here’s a quote from the first blog in which I
shared my understanding of the three distinct areas of man which once
functioned as a unified whole being without schism when The Creator breathed
the breath of lives into the original man, Adam:
We know Satan entered in to cause separation and we also know he was successful. His plan was to separate man from God and steal the ruling authority God had given man when He blessed them, but the way he so subtly chose to do this was to present them with something which would first divide them within themselves. He needed to confuse and change the natural order in which they were created by God to operate to accomplish this. This is clearly demonstrated in Genesis 3:6 when after listening to a strange voice and seeing that the forbidden fruit was good for food, pleasant to the eye and desirable to make one wise the woman being deceived, gave in to temptation, then, apart from her spirit and God's influence, she chose to eat. She gave some to the man who was with her and he also chose to eat. By this act of disobedience they put their spirits in subjection to the sensual desires of their souls departing from God and the laws He had established to govern spiritual creatures such as themselves-those created in the God class…
...and in so doing, subordinated
themselves under Satan's rule.
The phrase “they
put their spirits in subjection to the sensual desires of their souls”
is the topic of interest at this point. Without understanding they were
already as gods having been created in God’s image
and likeness, and choosing
through ignorance to follow the thoughts received into their minds from
an outside source instead of checking with their spirits who always had access
to God and His thoughts, they ate. Up to this point they had been fully
satisfied because of their heart to heart, intimate relationship with God which
fully permeated and quickened their whole being, spirit soul and body.
Because of this it never occurred to them to eat from the tree because
they not only didn't have a desire to do so they were content to
follow God simply because they were instructed not to eat of it. They
trusted Him who told them. That tree belonged to God for only He at that
point in time had the capability to know what evil was without having to experience it. So, why was the tree
there in the first place? My idea of it is because Adam and Eve were
created in the god class simply by being his children. Everything God
created had the seed within itself to reproduce after its kind (Gen 1:11-12),
and since God created man after His kind (Gen.1:26-28) it stands to reason that
he would also possess free will to make choices just as God made choices. God
gave man that right in the very beginning when He instructed Adam not to eat of
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and informed him of the consequences
if he did in Genesis 2:17.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
It was
up to Adam and Eve to choose. So, in essence, man was given the ability
to chose either life or death, and in choosing to eat they learned by experience what evil meant and received the
hellish consequences of their choice to gain knowledge apart from their
Father-their Creator and their God-their life source. So lets take a look
at how the deceiver accomplished such a feat, because what gave him success
then, often gives him success now.
However, I'd like to share a bit about how I came to what I believe to be insights into these things. For quite some time now, I've asked God about what it really means to have an "undivided heart" and have desired mine to be so. I've already written some of what I discovered, and next I'll be sharing a more detailed look into how the divided heart came about after God Himself breathed the "breath of lives" into Adam making man a triune being, yet a fully functional unified creation, even as God also Is. This being the case only as man stayed connected to His life source. In subsequent post I hope to share the very good news concerning some of the ways we can be restored to a more unified heart by reconnecting to Him and His way, but for now, let us continue on with this segment of the journey.

The first thing the deceiver did was
to question the woman’s knowledge by asking her if God really said
they couldn't eat any of the fruit in the garden. The woman
answered that they could eat from all the trees except the one-the fruit of the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil-and to defend her knowledge of what God
said, she overcompensated by adding that not only could they not eat the
fruit from the tree, but neither could they touch it or they would
die! Well honestly, God did not say they couldn't touch it, did
He? Their (Adam’s and Eve’s) greatest mistake was to begin listening
to an unfamiliar voice thereby allowing the serpent’s spirit, deception, to
rest on them like a fog. (Please keep in mind what the woman added
because we’ll get back to it later.)
Now that they had taken the bait and
were opened to deception, the out and out lie was offered as Satan told them
they would not “surely die.” Then he suggested to
them that God didn’t want them to eat of the fruit because they’d be like
God-which of course, they already were since God Himself created them in His
own image and likeness , which Satan knew full well. So , let's look
at Genesis 3:5 again:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
“Knowing good and evil.” That statement is true…in a sense. They
could have learned everything they needed to know about good and evil from God,
but I'm not at all certain they would ever have had to know anything about evil
at all if they had called on Him for help in this situation. He would
have taught them ALL they needed to know concerning ALL things as He instructed
them in becoming All He created them to be. However Satan wanted
them to follow his way of doing things, learning by experience rather than
being taught by God. So yes, they would have their “eyes opened” when
they ate. They would “know” good and evil by experiencing evil as the
word “knowing” encompasses a wide range of learning by either seeing,
perceiving, observing, experiencing and also by receiving instruction.
Since that time man’s default way of learning has been through experience
rather than receiving sound instruction. And we also, as Adam and Eve
experienced, have become as gods but not the kind God intended.
We've become our own gods having fallen from our high calling to be like
God Himself under His Lordship, into that lower category of gods where all
false gods reside-those who choose to go their own way, make their own rules,
all the while struggling to be the in the god class having dominion and
authority that the Creator intended for man but having it without Him.
The following is how the fruit God gave them to eat looked and tasted, Genesis 2:9.
The following is how the fruit God gave them to eat looked and tasted, Genesis 2:9.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. (my emphasis)
Notice what God said about
every tree, that the fruit was "pleasant to the sight and good for
food." In other words it was pretty and it tasted good! The
couple had a great variety of delicious food sources from which to choose with
only the one being restriction , but once the serpent was allowed in the
garden, his lust for what belonged to them and God enveloped Eve and
certainly affected Adam as well-so entered lust for beauty, food, knowledge
apart from God, power, and the list goes on. Eve having her ear opened to
a perverted voice began seeing things differently. Lusting for
greater beauty, for food which surely must taste better than anything she had
experienced, for wisdom which God, it seemed, was withholding from them, and
now operating out of her soul rather than her spirit, and following
another's voice, removed herself from the divine order, and having done so,
lost the unity of her triune nature and the division within herself occurred. Because of this the
inevitable happened next, Genesis 3:6:
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat...
Now
that Eve saw the tree from a perverted viewpoint, lusting for its beauty, its
taste and its power to make her wise, she picked fruit from the tree, and
being further emboldened because she didn't die when she touched the fruit
(remember what she added to God's instruction), she ate. And we know she
gave some to her husband who was with her observing all that had taken
place with the exchange between the woman and the serpent, and he ate!
He took none of the authority God had given him to rule and have
dominion, he just stood there and watched! Is this not amazing!
Even though he chose to eat the fruit, I believe it was also because he
had been strongly influenced by the cloud of deception including its lust
which had come with the serpent's presence because it is part of the fabric of
his [the serpent's] nature. However, either of them at anytime could have called out to
God for help, but simply put, none of us is a match for the enemy's wiles in
our own strength. I dare say that no other man or woman would have fared
better than they.
So it happened according to the Word of God. The death of their spirits was immediate. With the taste of the fruit, they tasted death. The death of their spirits would begin permeating their souls and bodies and had God not chosen to intervene, we, as well as they would have lived eternally separated from God had it not been for His great love for them and for us!
So it is my belief that once man was deceived into changing the natural order of how he was made to function by God-through his spirit in connection to the Divine Spirit- the schism irrevocably occurred resulting in a divided heart, therefore divided loyalties. There was no longer unity in the "three lives" of man as his soul- including his mind, will and emotions- though unequipped to do so, took over leadership. Even the body intended originally to house the spirit and soul occupying a place of subordination to them, fell prey to the lust of fallen man having undue influence over soul and spirit with excessive cravings of its own. And such was and is the fallen state of man until God intervened providing the way of salvation giving us all the power to choose life and that more abundant!
I consider this segment summed up and gladly put it to rest. I'm looking forward to getting into the good part, where all that's needed for us to be restored as fully functional, unified, new creations has been bountifully supplied by God's great grace. And just as it took TIME for man to die, so it takes TIME for the restoration and transformation process to take place so we can really live!...and I'm ready to receive even more of the abundant life He promised to give us, so I'll conclude with this familiar promise found in John 10:10:

Three Lives? continued
The title of the previous blog Three Lives? with the question mark calls for a
response upon considering the information presented. So I'll be the first to
respond with a resounding, "Yes!" I have led three lives.
No, I'm not a communist or a counter spy as intriguing as it may sound,
just a woman who's been divided within herself more than I ever understood.
Unfortunately many of us can answer it the same way, but now is the time
to begin the process of leading one life, unified, integrated, whole...and
boy!, am I ready! Since it was God's original design and plan for us as
those created in His image and likeness when He breathed the "breath of
lives" into Adam making him a living spirit, soul and body, and though
three (like God), also one whole being without schism under God's
influence, it would be to our great advantage to pursue Him to receive that
unity of ourselves under His influence restored.
Though the process has begun, "MY Goodness!" it's not necessarily fun...just being honest here. I've been on this journey for a while now, but it seems the farther I go, the greater the obstacles. Not because God intended for it to be that way, but because our old nature has to be dealt with along the way, and we have to be strengthened to "see" ourselves, our condition, and our lives the way they really are, and deal with them head-on without excuse or blame, by taking ownership for how we've lived our lives-deceived or not! It kind of stings a bit just writing that down! Woo hoo....not fun at all to have to get down in the the middle of this sort of thing....
So here's a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. God is for us, not against us. He's forgiven everything already, all we need to do is to remember that and receive cleansing. No condemnation here! He just wants us to be healed and whole-fully functional sons and daughters participating in the family business under His healing influence. Remember what Jesus said to His disciples about having much more to say to them, but they were not yet able to bear it, (John 16:12)? That's what it's still like today. It takes not only a head knowledge of this love for us as individuals but a revelation of His goodness and a receiving of His love and grace for us personally to be empowered to go to the deep places with Him. How else can we deal with a real issue without taking full ownership of it? Otherwise it must be someone else's fault we're the way we are and if that were true, it would leave us in the VICTIM status having given up all control over our own lives and condition-and that's exactly what Adam and Eve did once they were already in disobedience to the Divine order. Taking no responsibility for our actions comes with the territory- it's the lower nature's way, the deceivers way, the way of darkness. Granted, there might be reasons and very good ones, that we have come to the place we are-even through no fault of our own- but however we got there or here is not the issue. The issue is coming out of it into wholeness, into the Light. If we play the blame-game or if we're in denial concerning our true state, then we can go no further with Him in a particular area, and in this case, we can go no farther on a particular journey until we deal with the obstacles in the way. The Good News here is this: He will take us as far as we can go and strengthen us to go farther on the next go round as we're willing. He won't make us go anywhere we don't want to go. He won't overrule our choice, our will. He's not a thief, He's our advocate, our Helper.
Often the most valuable assets are attained by doing whatever it takes to achieve them no matter how difficult the task at hand. So again I'll add, things in the spirit realm are often gained by similar processes as in the natural. We find the laws or procedures that govern what we desire and co-operate with those laws or rules necessary to reach a given destination, or to achieve the desired goal.
I hope to share more concerning this journey that I'm on of coming into a more integrated life with a heart less divided. For now I'll end with a verse or two from The Message. It's one of my favorites and one I've shared before concerning the "unforced rhythms of grace..."

Matthew 11:27-30
The Message (MSG)
27 Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. “The Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I’m not keeping it to myself; I’m ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.
28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Three Lives? Revisited
I plan to post several blogs from my first blog Oneofthebeargirls in order to give anyone who may stop by for a moment an opportunity to understand where I'm coming from so to speak. Hopefully, these older post will give greater insight into any future posts I might share. The following is a bit long and divided into 2 entries. It's a topic which I found quite intriguing when I first discovered the information myself and it made quite an impact on my thinking and greatly influenced my point of view. I hope you'll enjoy it, and maybe even find it beneficial.
Three
Lives?
The word is "God". In the original language the word used is Elohim, and as Mr. Prince explained, though we in the U.S. add the letter "s" to change the form of a word to plural, in Hebrew it is normal to add "im" to change a word to the plural form. It's pronounced "eem", thus Elohim, the first mention of God referring to Himself in the plural. Another interesting fact is that verbs in Hebrew can either be singular or plural and must match the form of the words to which they are connected. A plural word such as Elohim normally would be matched with a plural form of the verb, but such is not the case in this instance. Mr. Prince writes that the word "created" is singular in form indicating that in God there is both plurality and singularity or unity.
As Christians we've known God to be a Triune Being but to find it to have been so clearly stated in the very first words of the Bible in the creation account was quite an amazing discovery! Very interesting indeed! There is so much more information, knowledge and revelation available to us than we can begin to imagine! In this same book author Prince goes on to share some very interesting information concerning what may have happened in the earth between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 to which a number of Bible scholars subscribe, though not pertinent to the subject at hand.
Now that the foundation is laid, I'll get to my point: God created us in His Image and Likeness. We all, to some extent, have gathered that if we've been a Christian for any length of time or have been associated with Christians, but I'd like to expand on it. Since God is 3 in 1 and has both plurality and unity within Himself, and He breathed the breath of lives into man, when He did so, man became a living soul with both plurality and unity within himself just like God. Now isn't that a wonderful fact, especially since God's purpose for man has never changed. As I said before, His original plan is still His plan though it was delayed for a time. While Man enjoyed unbroken fellowship with his Creator, his unity within himself as well as his continuous life source remained unbroken. Though they, man and woman, were made to be fully functional living spirits, they were also fully functional living souls who lived in a fully functional living body without schism fully operating as one whole person.
This is clearly demonstrated in Genesis 3:6 when after listening to a strange voice and seeing that the forbidden fruit was good for food, pleasant to the eye and desirable to make one wise, the woman being deceived, gave in to temptation, and apart from her spirit and God's influence, she chose to eat. She gave some to the man who was with her and he also chose to eat. By this act of disobedience they put their spirits in subjection to the sensual desires of their souls departing from God and the laws He had established to govern spiritual creatures such as themselves-those created in the God class but little g's instead of capital "G's" (See John 10:34-36, Psalm 82:6, *Psalm 8:5). And the rest is history.
Though the fall of man was great, we as men have had little understanding how greatly we all have been affected by the lower nature we inherited because of it. The segregation of our spirit, soul and body because of our separation from God and His design has been devastating. However, The Very Good and Great News is this truth found in Romans 5:17.

Three
Lives?
I Led 3 Lives was a television
series in the 1950's loosely based on an American guy who joined the
communist party for the FBI and assumed the role of a counter spy- thus the
three lives, U.S. citizen, communist and counter spy. Though I was a
child I remember the series and watched it a few times, but recall very
little about it. It was very much a show for grown-ups, and I was much
more interested in watching
Hopalong Cassidy-loved his white horse and, of course, his good-guy white
hat. Oh, I digressed, but the thought of it made me happy...so back to the
trail.
None-the-less, even as a child I found the title and the thought of leading 3 lives very intriguing and mysterious. Considering this I find it no surprise that several years ago while reading Derek Prince's book War in Heaven, I came across a statement which very much appealed to me, and have thought much about it since. In order to arrive at the destination I desire a little background information is in order, so I'll share some interesting facts from his book that will help clarify my basic premise.
In referring to Genesis 2:7 Mr. Prince shared that the word "life" is plural! This discovery truly captivated me! I wondered how this new understanding might broaden the meaning of the intent of its use in this particular verse, and further, how it might bring greater enlightenment regarding how we were created by God and how He intended for us to function. After all, He didn't change His plan. His original plan is still His plan.
Check out the verse I'm referring to and see for yourself. The following is as it reads in the King James Version and just about all versions I've seen.

Now
look at the difference when you add the word 'life" in its plural form .
And the Lord God
formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of lives; and man became a living soul.
It's
truly fascinating! Not only does this suggest the character and
functionality of God, in three persons, but also man whom He created in
His Image--all of this in the opening account of creation. What a
foundation He laid, but before I can go on, it's also necessary to take a look
at another plural word in Genesis 1:1.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth

17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life
by one, Jesus Christ.
The purpose of all I've written is to share a
little about the separation of our 3 lives that we have in one which are often
at odds with each other. At times we might follow our spirit, sometimes
we might follow our emotions, and other times we might just follow our
appetites depending on our circumstances or how we might feel at the moment. I
know I mentioned several times that God's plan for man is still His original plan, however,
the deceiver's plan is still his original plan, to divide and conquer, to
separate man from his Creator and to keep man from the reunification of his
"three lives". So I'll end this first installment of
"3 Lives" with the following scripture which Jesus
Himself said so very plainly...then I'll surely want to do a little
"Happy Dance" for getting this far on this particular subject!
John 10:10
10 The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and
that they might have it more abundantly.
And to get an even clearer picture of this scripture, you might want to
check it out in the Amplified Version at the following link:http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010:10&version=AMP
( The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].)

Thinking, Speaking and Becoming
The following is a post from my previous website Oneofthebeargirls which I posted January 6, 2014.
Thinking, Speaking and Becoming
(And in case anyone would wonder why Jesus would curse a seemingly innocent fig tree, you might be interested in reading more information at this site since *having leaves would indicate it also had fruit.)
Many things speak to us such as our bank accounts, minor aches and pains, a sneeze, what we see in the mirror, just about everything has a voice which speaks something to us and more times than not, in a negative way. Unchallenged thoughts of this nature can be devastating to us over time since they have the power within themselves to affect the way we see ourselves, our circumstances and future causing us to think, behave and believe according to their deceptive influences. *Many have written about this well documented subject. The Bibles says in Proverbs 23:7 as a man thinks in in heart so is he and once these thoughts have lodged in our heart we inevitably start speaking the same things! Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart a man speaks (Luke 6:45 ). The Bible has a lot to say about the words we speak which most often originate from an outside voice which speaks to us, and once received and believed become our own. After this negative cycle begins, in all probability we'll at some point hear those words spoken audibly by some one around us, since this sort of negativity attracts like kind. Now that's truly propagating a harvest, but not the type we desire!
What can be done to change this? Maybe we should do what Jesus did! No, I'm not suggesting that we go around cursing anything, but we can answer back. And who else knows how to do this better than Him who answered the fig tree! He will help us not only to recognize these lies, but take us through the process of cleaning out the old and replacing it with the new, the truth. Yes we have a Helper, a Teacher and a Friend who'll gladly take us through the process. Now the truth of the matter is that it's a lifelong process, but one never too late to start. It's something we'll continually have need of growing in, but isn't that what maturing is all about?
I'll close this entry with a couple of encouraging scriptures which speak to me concerning these things.

Thinking, Speaking and Becoming
While considering my last post, Christmas Gifts, Christmas
Memories, I began to see how much it relates to the
"speaking" theme which I've been blogging about for a while now.
It wasn't intended for that purpose, but none-the-less, it does
relate. And how, might you ask? Well, I'll attempt to share with
you what I saw.
After looking over that post earlier while making a few minor corrections and changes-the typical things you do when you write anything-and as I finished and walked away, I began to see how the can of ravioli and coconut pie spoke to me. It all seemed so simple in a way. I've known this for some time now but seeing so clearly in my own blog how it all tied in was quite amazing to me. So what did the they (the ravioli and coconut pie) say? They said, "What a fun summer that was," while filling my thoughts with the story I related....all good ones! And truly, that summer was one of my happiest childhood times and therefore memories, so what these inanimate objects said to me was true!
This sort of thing happens ALL the time to everyone. We're just not usually aware of it to this degree. So in one sense, everything has a voice and depending on our experience, or even lack of it, these objects will say different things to each of us. In fact a very large retailer of imported items has capitalized on it. They have commercials inviting us to come to their store to find, "what speaks to you"! It is my belief that in Mark 11:12-14 (though what He did has a greater meaning) the fig tree spoke to Jesus. He was hungry and seeing the fig tree *having leaves, he went closer only to discover it had no fruit. At that point the fig tree could have been saying something like this, "There's no fruit here, you,'ll just have to stay hungry." Verse 14 records how Jesus literally answered the fig tree:

Matthew
11:27-30
The
Message (MSG)
27 Jesus
resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. “The Father has given me all
these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out
of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the
Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I’m not keeping it to
myself; I’m ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.
28-30 “Are
you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and
you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and
work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything
heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live
freely and lightly.” (My emphasis, of course!)
John
16:13
King
James Version (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
