Some things to think about:

  • Why is it necessary to speak in agreement with God?  Just a few reasons follow: First, because speaking in agreement with Him is the highest form of  human speech.  It's the Supreme Court for the laws governing  the productivity of words which will overturn any lower court's ruling concerning the use of words-and because He created man in His likeness and His plan was and is for us to operate like He does.  Secondly, God has made Jesus High Priest of our profession (confession) which includes the authority and power to act on those words to bring them to pass.   Thirdly, speaking in agreement with His Word also activates angels who "hearken to the voice of His word" to bring them to pass even when we are the ones  speaking those Words- it's part of their job assignment as those who are sent to "minister to those receiving salvation."  One more reason is because we humans always speak about the things we believe in one form or fashion and the words we speak determine what we receive in this life.  According to Acts 20:21 because of  grace, His word is able to bring us an inheritance...and who doesn't want an inheritance from a gracious, wealthy relative who loves us completely and desires for us to function in the full capacity according to our original design!
          Scripture References:
Gen. 1:26 (in  His likeness); Psalm 119:89 (His word forever settled in heaven); Isaiah 55:11 (His word accomplishes what He sends it to do); Gen. 1:26 and 28 (God gave man dominion over his environment); Hebrews 3:1 (Jesus is High Priest of our profession);  Isiah 55:11 (He watches over His word to perform it); Psalm 103:20 (angels hearken to the voice of his word); Heb. 1:14 (angels sent to minister to those receiving salvation)
Additional  Scriptures References or reasons to speak in agreement with God’s word:
Proverbs 6:2 (you are snared by your words); Proverbs 10:11 (the mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked, NKJ) Proverbs 15:4 (a wholesome tongue is a tree of life);  And perhaps the most important reason of all is Proverbs 18:21- Death and life are in the power [authority] of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. NKJ my emphasis

  • Frustration is often the result of striving to obtain those benefits/promises which can only be received through faith in God and Jesus' finished work.  We become weary by trying to gain for ourselves those things which Jesus already paid the price for us to have.   We simply bring them into our possession by receiving them  through faith in what God says.  Kind of sounds like Mark 11:24 where it is written  "...believe that you receive them and you will have them."   Having a renewed mind is essential to believing  and receiving the inheritance Jesus provided for us.

  • Our adversary will often speak to us in the  first person.  Instead of our hearing a thought that suggests to us that we are a failure, sick, ugly or depressed, that circumstances will never change for us as a voice saying, "You are such a failure," it will probably come to us as, "I am such a failure," disguising itself as our own voice!  No wonder Jesus said so many times to be careful of what you hear!   After all, the Fall of man began when a strange voice began speaking to Eve and Adam and they listened to it!   The enemy still uses the same tactics by giving us opportunity after opportunity to listen to his voice  and agree with him in order to defeat us, though we already have the victory in Christ Jesus and only He can lead us into the victory He provided for us.

This is powerfully true and a great and necessary reminder. Thank you.
